Posted on 16th March 2017

Detectives have charged a man with seven sexual crimes in Spondon and Darley Abbey.

The 23-year-old, of Chaddesden, is due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday, March 17).

He has been charged with seven sexual offences against three victims, said to have happened on September 27 2014 in Spondon, September 7 2015 at Darley Abbey and December 22 2015 in Spondon.

Investigations into a serious sexual assault in the Stoney Lane area of Spondon on February 16 2017 are continuing.

Detective Inspector Emlyn Richards, the senior investigating officer leading the inquiry, said: “People are still calling and emailing us with information and I would ask them to continuing doing so.

“Due to the volume of calls we are receiving, it is not possible to return the telephone calls or respond to individual e mails. I would like to reassure people that each piece of information is being assessed by the incident room team and is being prioritised.”
