Appeal after gang attacks pedestrian in unprovoked street assault

Posted on 5th May 2017

We’re appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and left needing hospital treatment in an unprovoked assault.

The 19-year-old victim was walking along Girton Way, Mickleover, when a group of about five youths started to chase him along the road.

He hid behind a row of wheelie bins but was then found and assaulted by several members of the group, who then fled in the direction of Brisbane Road.

The victim was taken to Royal Derby Hospital to be treated for head and leg injuries and was later discharged.

Our officers are appealing for information from anyone who might have witnessed it and not yet come forward, or who might have overheard the offenders talking about it.

The assault took place between 6pm and 6.30pm on April 26.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Daniel Handley-Farrell on 101, quoting reference 17000173970.

Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us.
