Appeal for witnesses to come forward after man is assaulted by members of Ilkeston group

Posted on 9th May 2017

We are appealing for a number of Good Samaritans to come forward after a man was assaulted by a group of youths in Ilkeston.

The 20-year-old victim was walking along Queen’s Drive when he passed a large group of young boys and girls, possibly up to about 50 in number.

A small pocket of the group then assaulted him by kicking and punching him and trying to take his mobile phone.

But other members of the group intervened and we want to speak to those people.

The incident happened at around 9.10pm on Friday, April 28.

We are also examining CCTV footage to identify members of the group but want to hear from the Good Samaritans as soon as possible.

If you were part of the group and intervened in the assault or helped the victim, call DC Kev Beresford on 101, quoting reference 17000177163.

Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us.

You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
