Wanted Derby man has been arrested and sent to prison

Posted on 11th May 2017

A man we wanted to speak to about a series of thefts from handbags across the city has now been arrested and sent to prison.

Earlier this week we asked for help to trace 34 year-old Stephen Ward of no fixed abode. He has now been arrested after being spotted in the city centre by an off-duty police officer.

Having been interviewed, he was charged with theft from a handbag at Sainsbury’s on Peak Drive, Derby. He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrate’s court today, Thursday, May 11 where he was recalled to prison to serve the remaining of a previous sentence.

Ward will re-appear at the same court to answer this new charge on Thursday, June 1.
