Posted on 16th May 2017

A woman has been badly injured by a man who bit her ear during an attempted robbery.

Witnesses to the crime, or anyone who may have been in the area at the time, are being urged to come forward and speak to officers.

At around 5am on Monday, May 15, a 56-year-old woman was walking along Traffic Street when she was approached by two men and a woman. One of the men pushed her over and demanded cash. He punched her in the face and bit her ear before checking her pockets.

We believe there are witnesses to the crime, which happened outside the Intu centre, who have yet to come forward.

Two men, aged 27 and 31, have been arrested in connection with the crime and they remain in custody.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DS Mike Sisman on 101, quoting reference 17000201817.
