Man assaulted in Matlock

Posted on 31st May 2017

We’re appealing for witnesses to an assault in Matlock.

At around 3.10am on Saturday, May 27, a 38-year-old man was walking through the town following a night out. He walked from along Dale Road toward Hall Leys Park from the direction of Monk Bar when he was approached by a group of four men.

One of them punched him to the ground, where he was then kicked. He suffered head injuries and spent a night in hospital.

The group are all white, of medium build and in their early to mid-20s. One may have worn a baseball cap.

The victim recalls seeing a couple in their late 20s in the area at the time and we would like to speak to them.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Robert Stordy on 101, quoting reference 17000223525.
