Axe found after attempted vehicle theft

Officers have released an image of an axe left behind after an attempted theft of a motorcycle in Wesley Street, Hadfield.

The incident happened on Sunday, November 5 at approximately 8.05pm when the bike owner found two teenaged boys attempting to steal his motorbike. The youths were dressed in black and carrying an axe.

After being disturbed by the victim the boys ran off, dropping the axe at the scene.

PC Gareth Podmore said: “We’re keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who recognises the axe in the picture, so that we can try to identify the people involved.”
