Deliveroo courier targeted twice by the same robber

Posted on 2nd October 2017

A Deliveroo cycle courier was robbed while making a delivery despite managing to get away from one of his attackers.

The 21-year-old victim was riding near the Premier Stores shop in Stockbrook Street, Derby, when he was approached a man who tried to rob him.

He was scared off when a silver car with a man and woman inside pulled up to intervene, and the rider cycled off.

However the robber caught up with the victim again at the junction of Dean Street and Westbury Street and stopped him.

A second robber then appeared and, after threatening the victim, they grabbed the food box from the back of the bike and took it, along with the sushi that was due to be delivered.

They then ran off.

Both robbers were wearing dark clothing and had material wrapped around their faces, covering up to their noses.

Our officers want to hear from anyone who witnesses the offence, which happened at about 8pm on Wednesday, September 27.

In particular, they want to speak to the driver and passenger of the silver car who stopped and intervened in the first attempted robbery.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Nikita Devney on 101, quoting reference 17000416012.
