Appeal for information after a man is shot in Normanton

Our officers were called to Coleridge Street in Normanton, Derby, at 1.40pm today to reports that a man had been injured.

On arrival a man was found with a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The man’s injury is not thought to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Darren De’ath who is leading the investigation said: “Investigations are at a very early stage and our officers are establishing the circumstances as to how the man became injured.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident and we have a number of officers currently in the area carrying out high visibility patrols and providing community reassurance.

“I would ask that anyone with information relating to the incident to contact us.”

There is currently a scene in place on Coleridge Street, this will remain overnight.
