Witnesses sought after Glossop cash van robbery

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a substantial quantity of money was stolen from a cash delivery van on Boxing Day.

The incident occurred at around 2pm outside the Next store in Wrens Nest Retail Park, Glossop.

A cash delivery officer was confronted by a man in a black balaclava as he made his way back to his vehicle. He dropped the cash box, which the suspect picked up, and returned to his van. The officer was not hurt during the incident.

The offender took the cash and got into a black VW Golf, registration MV56 XAT. It is believed the Golf travelled along these roads:

-Dinting Vale, A57

-High Street East

-Woolley Bridge Road

-Brookfield Road

-Mottram Moor

Officers would like to speak to any homeowners or businesses with CCTV that covers the above roads between 1.15pm and 2.30pm and drivers who were on these roads between these times.

Additionally officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the retail park between 1.20pm and 2.10pm and witnessed a black Golf driving erratically in the area.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to download the footage to an external device and secure it for officers to view.
