Police and football clubs urge fans to plan ahead their travel route prior to Derby v Leeds match

Posted on 30th July 2018

Derby County are due to face Leeds United as their first home match of the season on Saturday, August 11 with a kick off time of 5.30pm.

We have been made aware of major re-signalling works that East Midlands Trains are carrying out at Derby Railway Station on this date.

This means that all trains travelling from Yorkshire to Derby will terminate at Chesterfield. From there buses will be provided by the train service.

It is expected that there will be a high demand for these buses and we are therefore advising fans to choose an alternative route that avoids using rail services.

In addition to this disruption there will also be planned roadworks on the A52 leading to Pride Park which will be reducing traffic to one lane.

Chief Superintendent Jim Allen who is match commander on the day has said: “I want all Leeds United fans that are planning on visiting Derby to arrive on time and enjoy the match.

“I would encourage anyone visiting to plan ahead for their travel route. We will endeavour to assist in getting fans to the match as much as we can.

“Please keep an eye on our social media channels for any further updates relating to the fixture.”
