Witnesses sought after taxi targeted in Derby

We are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was allegedly robbed on Douglas Street in Derby City Centre.

At around 7pm on Saturday, June 9, near to the junction with Osmaston Road, the taxi driver’s vehicle was blocked by a Mercedes and flanked by a BMW and an Audi.

A group of men, who have been described as Asian, exited the surrounding vehicle and attempts were made to steal money via the passenger window.

During the struggle that followed, the taxi driver was struck over the head with an object believed to be a metal bar. A quantity of cash was stolen.
