81-year-old man robbed in Chesterfield

We’re appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was robbed in Walgrove Road, Walton at approximately 6.15pm on Saturday, June 16.

A man approached the victim’s house and persuaded the victim to give him a glass of water. The man then forced his way inside the house and stole a coat containing a wallet.

The victim managed to chase the man for a short distance, and the man dropped the coat but ran off with the wallet in the direction of Goytside Road and Factory Street.

The man is described as white, aged between 35-40, with greying hair. He was wearing dark-coloured jeans and an anorak.

The wallet which is described as dark-coloured contained a quantity of cash, a debit card, rail travel card and bus pass.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and released under investigation.
