Men charged following Whitaker Street collision as police issue witness appeal

Three men have been charged with possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply following a recent collision in Derby City Centre.

A silver Toyota Corrola collided with two other vehicles on Whitaker Street at around 3pm on Thursday, March 22 following an aborted police pursuit.

The three occupants of the car were arrested at the scene. Two of them received hospital treatment prior to being transported to custody.

Haseeb Bashir (19) of Porter Road, Mohammed Ishtyaq (36) of Stone Hill Road and Hasnain Khalid (20) of Overdale Road – all from Derby – have been remanded to appear at Crown Court.

Further to the drug related charge, Haseeb Bashir has also been charged with a number of driving offences including: failing to stop for the police, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

Sgt Scott Riley said: “The police investigation is still ongoing and we are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact us.

“We would be particularly interested to speak to anybody with dash cam footage.

“Our officers would also like to hear from anyone who saw a silver Toyota Corolla with a black boot and green painted wheels in and around the Derby area in the days prior to the incident.”
