Posted on 29th March 2018

A teenaged boy has this evening been charged with kidnap, sexual assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 17-year-old, who lives in Lincolnshire, was arrested after a 14-year-old girl reported she was attacked on a footpath off Glamorgan Way, Church Greasley, on the evening of Tuesday, March 27. She told officers her attacker had a knife.

The boy will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Officer in the case DC Gavin Owen said: “The response from the residents of the Castleton Park estate, and Church Gresley as a whole, has been astonishing.

“The community has been very supportive of our appeals for information and our house to house inquiries and this has undoubtedly helped our investigation. I would like to thank everyone for this support.”
