Man charged following Friar Gate incident

Officers investigating an alleged knife attack on Friar Gate in Derby have charged an 18-year-old man with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and with possessing an offensive weapon.

Patrick Lawrence of Turner Street, Derby, has appeared before magistrates and been remanded in custody.

The incident took place between 1.30am and 2am in the early hours of Thursday, May 24.

An 18-year-old man was hospitalised with chest and back injuries.

DS Vanessa Burns said: “This is an ongoing investigation and we are working hard to establish all the facts of what happened.
