Appeal for witnesses following an incident in Alvaston

At around 1.40am this morning (Friday, November 30), we were called to reports that damage had been caused to a property on Tayberry Close, Alvaston.

We believe the damage to the property was caused by a firearm and the investigation into the circumstances is in its early stages.

A man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the damage.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren De’Ath who is leading the investigation said: “We would like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident.

“You will see an increased number of officers on the streets in the surrounding area and we would encourage people to come up and chat with them about any concerns they have.
