Community engagement at intu Derby shopping centre

Posted on 6th October 2018

On Friday, a few of our officers popped into intu Derby to say hello to shoppers, give them some safety and security tips, and to show off some of our specialist skills.

Among the team were firearms officers, dog handler PC Andy Bailey and his search dog Tilly, members of the city centre Safer Neighbourhood team and our drone unit.

We spoke to hundreds of people of all ages about the work we do and the issues that matter most to them.

People were able to have a sit in one of our armed response vehicles, take a close look at two of our drones, pick up leaflets about personal safety and crime prevention, and even watch as PD Tilly searched for some hidden contraband.

We've put together this short video of our community engagement and we'll let you know when we're next heading out into Derbyshire for something like this, so you can come and say hi.

We'd like to thank intu Derby for their hospitality, and also the members of our community who came up to chat and made it such an enjoyable day.
