Posted on 8th October 2018

We can confirm that a man in his 20s sadly died after the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree in Warwick Avenue, Derby.

The collision happened at about 4.30pm yesterday and resulted in the closure of the road while emergency services attended.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene.

Officers from our collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly drivers with dashcam devices who were travelling in the Warwick Avenue area at the time.

We also want to speak to any pedestrians or dog walkers who were walking along the road at about 4.30pm.

The car involved was a light coloured Volvo C30. Did you see it travelling prior to the incident?

Anyone who can help should call Sergeant Scott Riley on 101, quoting reference 18000481635.
