Roads closed after serious crash in centre of Derby

Posted on 9th September 2018

At 1.10am this morning (September 9) we were called to reports of a serious collision at the junction of Friar Gate and Stafford Street in Derby.

The incident involved a Blue Renault Clio and a silver Mercedes E320.

An 18-year-old woman, who was the passenger in the Renault Clio, sustained serious, life threatening injuries and was taken to the QMC by air ambulance for treatment.

The drivers of both vehicles have been arrested and are currently receiving treatment at hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Enquiries are ongoing and specialist collision investigation officers are at the scene. At this time the crossroads of Friar Gate, Stafford Street and Ford Street is closed and is likely to be for some time today.

Local diversions are in place and drivers are asked, if possible, to avoid the area and travel via alternative routes. We thank the public for their patience as our investigations continue.
