What is Crimestoppers?

Crimestoppers is the charity that works in partnership with the police to solve crimes. Through the national phone number, 0800 555 111, people are encouraged to call anonymously with information about crime and criminals. There is also a national website at http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/. Derbyshire Crimestoppers is a local branch of the national charity.
 
The 0800 555 111 number ensures that no one need ever know who you are when you call.
 
You will not be asked your name, your call will not be traced and you do not have to go to court. No police officer will call on you. Rewards are also available and are paid without compromising a caller's anonymity.
 
Just tell us what you know, not who you are.

Police in Ripley have released an E-fit image of a man suspected of exposing himself in a shop in Ripley.
 
The offence happened at 12.45pm on Tuesday January 12 in Shoe Zone on Oxford Street in the town.
 
The man chatted to the assistant and then walked around the shop and exposed himself. He then left and walked out of the shop.
 
He is described as being white, about 60-years-old and about five feet eight inches tall. He was wearing a black woolly hat, black full-length coat and light coloured jogging bottoms.

On 27 July a man entered the Higher Buxton Post Office and requested Euros. To pay for these he produced a bank/credit card and a photo-card driving licence as identification. The bank card was a cloned card and the driving licence fake.
 
A similar attempt occurred on 30 August using a different card and driving licence.

On Sunday 6 September at 14:40 hours a man entered Safari Quip in Castleton. He selected a Paramo jacket from the shelf put it into his bag and left the shop without offering payment.
 
Officers are keen to speak to the person captured on the CCTV at the time of the incident.

Officers investigating a distraction burglary at a house on Tapton View Road, Chesterfield have released an image of a suspect.
 
The offence happened at 9.15am on Friday, October 23 when a man who pretended to be from the council said he needed access to the house.
 
While the occupant was distracted another person sneaked in and stole cash. The man in the E-fit is described as being white, with a very pale complexion and white hair. He was between 40 and 50 years old and about five feet ten inches tall.
 
He was wearing a blue jacket and dark trousers and carried a clipboard.

Police officers who are investigating a burglary on Holme Park Avenue, Chesterfield have issued an E-fit of a suspect.
 
The burglary happened between 5.50pm - 6.05pm on Monday October 19 and the suspect was seen as the occupants returned to their home. He was chased by the resident but the suspect escaped by jumping over a fence.
 
He's described as being six feet tall, 28 - 32 years old, with an olive-skinned Eastern European appearance, an angular face and short hair. He was wearing a nylon anorak that was dark coloured and had grey panels on the sleeves, back and sides.
 
He was carrying a rucksack.
 
A camera, cash and a rucksack were stolen during the burglary.

Police have issued an E fit image of a man who was seen after a burglary at a house on Wilne Road, Long Eaton on Thursday, September 17.
 
The offence happened between 12.45pm and 1.15pm and the burglary was discovered when the residents returned home.
 
As they arrived at their home a man was walking down their garden path. He shouted to them that he was going to ask if they wanted their windows cleaned and then walked off onto Plant Lane.
 
When the residents went into the house they realised they'd been burgled. Jewellery and cameras were stolen.
 

The man who walked down the path is described as being white, between 20 - 25 years old, about 5ft 6ins - 5ft 8ins tall, with short dark hair and a round face with stubble. He was wearing a navy woollen hat, a navy thin quilted jacket and dark jeans. He carried a black rucksack on his back.

On Monday 9 March two men entered Tesco on Heathcote Road, Swadlincote. Packets of meat were selected and the men left the premises without making payment.

On Sunday 12 July at approximately 12 o'clock a man entered 'Hitch and Hike' in Hope. He removed the security tags off three coats and placed them in a shoulder bag and attempted to leave the store. When challenged by a member of staff he threw one of the coats back into the shop and then left the premises.

On Saturday 13 June at approximately 13:15 two men and a woman entered the Co-operative Store on Welbeck Street in Whitwell. One of the men attempted to hide a bottle of Champagne in his coat whilst the other man distracted the shop assistant.
 
Officers are keen to speak to the people captured on the CCTV at the time of the incident.

Detectives have released an e-fit of a man who is alleged to have indecently exposed himself to a woman in Ripley last month.
 
At around 1pm on Wednesday August 19th 2009 a 55-year-old woman was walking along Wellington Street in the town when she was approached by a male.
 
He exposed himself to her and made rude gesture, he then ran off into Crossley St.
 
The man is described as white, in his fifties, of medium build and between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall.
 
He had a fair complexion and soft wavy silvery grey hair. He was wearing a royal blue coat, stone-grey coloured chino trousers and dark shoes.

Police have issued an E-fit of a suspect who robbed a 75-year-old woman in Ashbourne.
 
The robbery happened at 5.10pm on Friday August 21 when the woman was in her garden on Belper Road, Ashbourne. She was approached by a man who said there was a problem with the water and he needed access to her house.
 
She asked the man for identification but then saw a younger man near the house. She became suspicious so returned to her kitchen to pick up her purses. She went outside again but as the younger man ran past her he grabbed the purses. The lady was elbowed and she lost her footing and fell onto a rockery. The offenders ran off towards the town centre.
 
She was later taken to the Royal Derby Hospital to be treated for grazing, bruising and a fractured wrist.
 
The victim has worked with the police to compile an image of the man who stole the purses from her.
 
He is described as being white, with a pale complexion, in his mid 20s, about five feet four or five inches tall and of stocky build. He has very short black hair, which was brushed forward and was wearing a blue/grey top and blue/grey trousers.

At 9.50am on Tuesday August 18 when a 15-year-old girl was doing a school project at Carsington Water.
 
She was questioning visitors as part of the project and spoke to a man who was riding a pedal cycle.
 
As the girl was speaking to him he exposed himself to her. She was shocked and quickly left the area to phone her father. The man did not follow or approach her at any time.
 
A search of the surrounding area failed to find the suspect but the girl has worked with the police to complete an E fit image of him.
 
She described him as being white, between 40 - 55 years old and more than five feet 10 inches tall. He had blond/grey unkempt hair and a full beard, a stocky build and a local accent. He was wearing a silver/grey cycle helmet, knee-length cotton shorts and a grey or light green T shirt.

On Wednesday 23 March between 08:00 and 18:00 four apartments on Carrington Street were broken into by two men. Once inside the properties electrical equipment and items of jewellery have been taken.

At 18:33 on Friday 6 March a couple entered a jewellery shop in the Westfield Shopping Centre and asked to see a platinum single diamond solitaire engagement ring. The woman tried on the ring whilst the man asked about payment options. She then handed a fake ring back to the manager and they both left the shop.

Derbyshire Constabulary are attempting to trace a man who has been charged in connection with a robbery in the county.
 
On February 19th 2009 a 75-year-old man was assaulted and a substantial amount of money was stolen from his home in Acresford Road, Overseal.
 
Vasile Mihai (23) was one of three people arrested. He was charged with robbery on March 6th 2009 and appeared before magistrates in Derby on March 7th 2009.
 
He was granted bail by the court but since that time has not been seen.
 
Derbyshire Constabulary are keen to trace Mihai, who is from Birmingham and is of Romanian origin.

On the evening of Thursday 13 th November 2008 a Jewellery salesman travelling down the Country (From Glasgow - Newcastle - Chesterfield ) pulled into the Service Station at Tibshelf in Chesterfield Derbyshire
 
He parked his SILVER Vauxhall Astra Elite in the car park and entered the Services
 
At this time he left a large quantity of JEWELLERY in the boot area of the motor
 
He returned to his motor within 10 minutes to find the rear window had been damaged and the JEWELLERY had been stolen from the boot
 
The JEWELLERY is said to be of FRENCH design and is very exclusive and rare in this Country - the make is 'PEQUIGNET' which is stamped on some of the items. CR/70952-08 refers.

At approximately 1545 hours on Saturday, 12 January two males entered Farmfoods, Derby. They followed a woman around the store, speaking to her on a couple of occasions. One of the males then removed the woman's purse without her knowledge and left the store.
