Accessibility Help

This page contains advice on how to get the most out of the Derbyshire Constabulary web site. Please select a link from the following menu:

Web Page Structure

The pages of our web site are laid out in a set format. At the top of each page there are quick accessibility buttons for quickly moving to different areas of the page. On the left hand side is our navigation area, followed by the content area and, finally, the features area. The features section contains information that we think should be highlighted. This could include latest news, important information and links to interesting web sites.

Shortcut Keys

Shortcut keys are available to quickly jump to different parts of a page. Please note that some web browsers may require you to press the 'Enter' key after the accessiblility keys are pressed.

The Shortcut keys are:

  • ALT-N = Jumps to the main navigation on a page
  • ALT-C = Jumps to the content on a page
  • ALT-F = Jumps to the features section on a page
  • ALT-S = Jumps to the Search box
  • ALT-H = Jumps to the Help and Accessibility page

Accessibility Buttons

The accessibility buttons at the top of our screen are mainly for people who are using screen reader software. These buttons allow users to jump to different parts of each web page. This is useful if the user wants to skip the main navigation menu and go straight to the page content or the right hand column.
