This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Bolsover Town. It belongs to the Bolsover policing section.

Bolsover is a small market town with a strong mining and historical heritage. It is located within Bolsover District Council and is approximately 6 miles from Chesterfield town centre. Bolsover has many attractions from the 17th century castle and buildings which now make shops and businesses in the town centre, to the long walks which show the history of not only the castle but also the strong mining heritage that Bolsover possesses.

The neighbourhood pledge and local priorities

Derbyshire Constabulary has signed up to the Policing Pledge. Our Policing Pledge sets out the standards of service you can expect from us, including our response times and how often you will be able to see your Safer Neighbourhood Team visibly working in your area.

Your current priorities for this neighbourhood

  1. Motorists committing traffic offences on Cotton Street and other pedestrian only areas in the town centre
This issue was set on 26 April 2010

Actions to be taken are as follows:

    • Safer Neighbourhoods officers to regularly patrol the area speaking to motorists about the dangers they are causing to pedestrians and issuing fines for any offences committed.
    • Work with Bolsover District Council's enforcement officers to issue fines to anyone found parking in pedestrian only areas.

  2. Tackling anti-social behaviour on Back Hills and around the conduit houses on land to the rear of Surprise View
This issue was set on 26 April 2010

Actions to be taken are as follows:

    • Increased patrols by police and CAN rangers around the footpaths leading to the area to deter youths from congregating.
    • Work with partner agencies to carry out action nights tageting underage drinkers and educating them on the dangers of binge drinking.
    • Diversionary activities to be organised to offer the youngsters something positive to take part in.

  3. Reducing criminal damage and anti-social behaviour around the Quiet Woman pub and shops on the Castle Estate.
This issue was set on 26 April 2010

Actions to be taken are as follows:

    • Visit off licences and local pubs to make sure they are not selling alcohol to under 18s.
    • Organise other activities for youngsters to take part in such as OzBox and educate them in the dangers of binge drinking.
    • Increase police and partner agency patrols in the area and carry out action nights to blitz the behaviour.

These priorities were agreed with your team at your last Safer Neighbourhoods meeting. These meetings are open to everybody and allow you to affect what you feel needs addressing in your area.
