Matlock Town Safer Neighbourhood
|
|
|
This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Matlock and Riber. It belongs to the B South policing section.
Matlock, dominated by the sight of Riber Castle, is located 20 miles north of Derby and has the River Derwent flowing through its centre. The neighbourhood extends to cover the nearby villages of Tansley & Starkholmes.
In the 1800s, Matlock developed as a popular tourist area with guest houses & hotels emerging. |
Visitors were attracted to the therapeutic qualities of its thermal waters, the largest being Smedley's Hydro, on the site of which the County Council Headquarters can now be found. Tourism has continued to be important to the local economy, with visitors spending time at attractive Hall Leys Park and well as the towns many shops and covered market. The neighbourhood pledge and local priorities |
|
Your current priorities for this neighbourhood- Criminal damage and anti-social behaviour in Hall Leys Park, Matlock.
This is as a result of recent damage to flowerbeds and trees running into several thousands of pounds.
This issue was set on 07 July 2010
Actions to be taken are as follows:
- Target patrols to deter offenders.
- Seize alcohol from under 18s.
- Issue dispersal notices to individuals over the age of 16 behaving in an anti-social manner.
- Robustly apply the Designated Public Place Order to incidences of anti-social behaviour in the park.
- Use local authority CCTV to monitor the park.
- Work alongside council staff and other people who work in the park
These priorities were agreed with your team at your last Safer Neighbourhoods meeting. These meetings are open to everybody and allow you to affect what you feel needs addressing in your area. Back to top
