Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood
This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Ashbourne. It belongs to the B South policing section.
The historical market town of Ashbourne is situated at the gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District. It is famous throughout the world for its annual Shrovetide football match when the "upards" play the "downards". It is played in the streets, fields and waterways, with each goal 3 miles apart. Thousands of people attend the event which is held over Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. |
The town boasts a very active and busy town centre with an array of commercial premises from everyday hardware stores to antiques and designer clothing boutiques. The town also holds a market on Thursdays and Saturdays. Read the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood newsletter (144.1 kB)
