Chief Superintendent, Peter Lewis

"By working in partnership with other agencies the police can make a significant contribution to the quality of people's lives."

The High Peak and Derbyshire Dales area is in the North West of Derbyshire. Referred to in policing terms as 'B Division', the area covers a total of 516 square miles. It is predominantly rural.

The population of the area is in the region of 160,000 and is served by 261 police officers, 44 civilian police staff, 30 Police Community Support Officers and 74 Special Constables.

My role is to ensure that the requirements of both local and national policing objectives are met. This involves a wide range of activity from dealing with anti social behaviour to the investigation of major crime such as homicide.

The High Peak and Derbyshire Dales area is a very safe and welcoming place for people to live, work and visit. I aim to keep it that way. By working in partnership with other agencies the police can make a significant contribution to the quality of people's lives. I recognise how important police visibility is to local people and the reassurance it brings to the community.

I am very grateful for the continued support of the public. Without this we would not be able to police in the style that has long been the tradition of British 'bobbying'.
