ASBO for Chesterfield teen
An Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been issued against a Chesterfield teenager who threw eggs at passing vehicles, hurled abuse at residents and daubed graffiti in the St Augustine's area of the borough.
And Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership has taken the decision to publicise the details of the Order (ASBO) on a leaflet in a bid to ensure he does not breach its conditions.
An application was made for an ASBO to be issued against Zaccary Arthur James Sedgewick when he appeared at Chesterfield Youth Court on June 29. It was granted.
The Anti-Social Behaviour Order states that Sedgewick must NOT:
• Act or encourage others to act in a manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of his household.
• Throw any item or missile at or towards any person, vehicle or property in a manner likely to cause harassment alarm or distress.
• Congregate in a group of two or more of people acting in a manner causing or likely to cause any person to fear for his / her personal safety.
• Consume alcohol in any public place within the borough of Chesterfield which is not a public house.
The order is in place until June 28, 2012 and if Sedgewick breaks its terms and conditions before then he risks arrest and a jail sentence.
A leaflet, which includes a photograph of Sedgewick and the full details of his ASBO, has been produced by Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership. Copies have been distributed in his home area and places he is known to hang about.
Residents in the St Augustine's area had talked to members of the Partnership's South St Augustine's Action Group (SStAAG), which brings together organisations working in the area to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, about Sedgewick.
They said he was a key member of the so-called Birdholme Bad Boys group which was disrupting life in the area. As a result, evidence for the ASBO was collected by Police, Council and other agencies.
Commenting on the decision to produce the leaflet, Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership Anti-Social Behaviour Coordinator Dianne Illsley said: "We hope this sends out a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in the Borough.
"Those who interfere with the quality of life of our communities will be dealt with. We listen to what residents tell us and are keen to do everything possible to protect them from anti-social behaviour."
Anyone who witnesses Sedgewick breaching the terms and conditions of the ASBO should call Derbyshire Police on 0345 123 3333 or Chesterfield Borough Council's Neighbourhood and Housing Services on 01246 345068.An Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been issued against a Chesterfield teenager who threw eggs at passing vehicles, hurled abuse at residents and daubed graffiti in the St Augustine's area of the borough.
