Police still seek players for village football tournament
Police in the Clay Cross area are still looking for footy mad youngsters to take part in an inter-village football tournament in April.
The five-a-side competition, organised by Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Youth Service, will be held at Tupton Hall School on Saturday, April 17, from 10am to 5pm and is open to anyone aged ten to 17-years-old.
The day will consist of two tournaments running at the same time with the teams split into age groups of ten to 13-year-olds and 14 to 17-year-olds.
Players, volunteers and qualified referees are all still needed for the tournament to go ahead.
PC Andrew Cropper, who is organising the event, said:" We really need people to sign up and get involved, if you or your son or daughter would like to take part then get in touch.
"We desperately need qualified referees and people to help on the day so there's something for all the family to do.
"We really hope this tournament will help to the community to interact with their local police and help to combat anti-social behaviour in the area."
Anyone who would like to enter a team must first ensure that a parent or guardian of each team member signs a consent and registration form.
The competition is free to enter and all teams need to be registered by the Saturday, March 27.
For more information or to get involved in the tournament call PC Andrew Cropper or PC Adam Bryan on 0345 123 3333 or email claycross.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk. Clay Cross village football tournament consent and registration form
