Residents in Grassmoor and the surrounding area are invited to a crime busting events where they can pick up free safety equipment and advice.

The 'Cracking Crime' day takes place in Grassmoor Community Centre, New Street, Grassmoor, from noon to 2pm on Monday, March 22.

Safer Neighbourhood officers, representatives from the Community Safety Partnership, the fire service and other agencies will be offering advice and handing out home security equipment including burglary packs and segment timers.

There will also be the opportunity to sign up to Derbyshire Constabulary's Community Messaging Service.

This is a system designed to keep members of the public informed about crimes in their area, current events, witness appeals and positive news.

The cracking crime day is part of a number of partnership events being held to promote crime prevention across north east Derbyshire.

Community Safety Partnership Sergeant Mel Hagues said: "We live in a very safe county but we hope to see as many people as possible at the events to help drive crime down even further."
