Have Your Say 2009
Residents across Derbyshire have been given their chance to comment on policing in the county at a series of events.
Derbyshire's Police Authority and the county's police have concluded a new round of consultation with local residents.
'Have Your Say' was introduced seven years ago as a way to find out what the public think about the police service in the county.
The 17 events held this year have focused on neighbourhood policing and public confidence in the police service.
Venues such as supermarkets, shopping centres, railway stations and market places were chosen to make it easy and convenient for people to take part.
Local Safer Neighbourhood officers attended the events with members of the Police Authority along with other staff and members of partner organisations.
The first programme ran from June to September, some events were at weekends and into the evening to make it easier for people to participate.
This year 2,623 people were questioned at 17 events across the county. The key findings were: - Of the 2,623 people surveyed 2,057 (88 per cent) were 'very confident' or 'fairly confident' in Derbyshire police.
- 1,526 (58 per cent) said they were aware that they had a dedicated Safer Neighbourhood team for their area.
- Thirty eight per cent of people thought that crime was reducing 'a lot or a little' in Derbyshire and 34 per cent believed it was about the same as last year.
