A special Valentines Day themed disco is taking place for young people in Buxton next week.

Level 2 will be opening its doors on Friday exclusively to 13-17 year olds in the latest Teen Scene event.

Teen Scene was launched in Buxton last October as a joint initiative by the High Peak Community Safety Partnership, Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and Buxton Community School after younger members of the community requested an under 18s night.

It has also been supported by volunteers and staff from Derbyshire Youth Service and the High Peak Methodist Churches.

PCSO Michaela Daniels of the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Both the Halloween and Christmas Teen Scene have been very popular, attracting around a hundred youngsters each time. We also noticed that during these events that there were very few reports of anti-social behaviour.

"Our thanks go to the youngsters who have been coming along; it is their behaviour which has helped to make Teen Scene a success. I hope we will see many more at the valentine's disco so that we can keep the events running in the future."

No alcohol is served during the event and police officers and PCSOs use specialist alcohol testing wands to help reinforce the message.

It takes place on Friday, February 12 from 7-10pm. Entry costs £3 and youngsters will need to show their B-Line Card. Fancy dress is optional.
