Reminder to keep dogs on a lead when near to livestock
Dog owners are being asked to ensure they keep their pets on a lead when out walking through farmland.
The Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team are encouraging people to adopt a responsible approach, especially as the lambing season approaches.
It follows a number of concerns raised by residents and farmers in the area.
PC Andy Crosthwaite said: "The main worry is about dogs roaming free and distressing the live stock in some of the fields. They could also destroy crops.
"We would urge dog walkers to not wander over farmland but to stick to designated footpaths and keep your dog on a lead, especially near to farm animals."
