Property marking service comes to Ripley and Codnor

Officers from the Ripley and Codnor Safer Neighbourhood Policing Teams would like to invite local residents to a property marking event.

The event will be held on Sunday, 21st February and cover locations in both of the towns.

From 12pm to 3pm the property marking will be available at the Ripley Safer Neighbourhood Team Police Office in Ripley Town Hall (the former Tourist Information Centre).

The event will then move to Highfields Community Hall in Codnor, and be available from 4pm until 7pm.

PCSO Sarah Dufton said: "We will be offering a free property marking service for many items, such as bikes, garden equipment and tools, as well as giving out crime prevention advice and safety tips.

"Engraving in itself is a fantastic deterrent to the would-be thief as property marking makes an item more traceable.

"We would like to encourage residents to come along on Sunday 21st to have their goods marked up and to find out more about staying safe and secure in 2010."
