Two Glossop youths charged with burglaries

Two people have been charged in connection with five burglaries in the Glossop area.

Officers have seen a rise in burglaries in recent weeks and have been increasing patrols and offering crime prevention advice to residents to tackle the problem.

They have now charged a 14-year-old boy with burgling Gamesley Community Primary School in February and committing four house burglaries in the area. Another 14-year-old has been charged with one house burglary.

The youths, who are both from Glossop, will appear at High Peak Youth Court later this month.

PC Paula Doyle, of Gamesley and Charlesworth Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We are grateful to members of the public who come forward with information about burglaries and we would urge anyone who witnesses suspicious activity in their area to call the police."
