Free golf and fishing sessions available for Sawley youngsters
Officers from the Sawley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team are offering local youngsters two fun and free activities to take part in during the summer holiday.
The team has organised a series of fishing sessions at Barker's Pond in Sawley, and a session of golf tuition at Trent Lock Golf Club.
PCSO Paul Boss said: "The fishing sessions will be held on Thursday, 12th August; Wednesday, 18th August and Thursday, 26th August, all 10am until 2pm.
"If possible, we would like those attending to obtain a Fishing Rod Licence before coming along to the sessions, but all other equipment will be provided for free.
"We will also be running a day of golf tuition with a professional at Trent Lock Golf Club on Wednesday, 4th August, and this will include lunch and a round on the nine-hole golf course during the afternoon.
"The activities are open to anyone in the Sawley area between the ages of 11 and 18, as long as they are still in full-time education.
"Both of these projects will be completely free for the attendees and are a great way to start a new hobby during the summer holiday.
"Anyone wishing to attend either the golf or the fishing project needs to contact the Sawley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0345 123 33 33, or come and talk to us while we're out on patrol."
The team would also like to thank Bev Squires, Derbyshire County Council's Children and Young Adults District Manager, for funding the fishing project.
