Public Consultation

Have Your Say

Derbyshire Police Authority is here to represent your views on policing. We run various public consultation events and panels and you can get involved in a number of ways.

If you would like a bigger say on policing where you live, you can join the Derbyshire Police Authority Community Consultation Panel. You can choose to be involved at a level that suits you - from answering postal or e-mail questionnaires to attending focus groups or consultation meetings.

Derbyshire residents also have a chance to comment on policing in the county at a series of public events that take place between June and September each year.

Part of the Derbyshire Police Authority and Constabulary 'Have Your Say' public consultation programme, the events aim to find out what the public really think about the police service.

Local Safer Neighbourhood officers, staff and members of partner organisations will attend the events alongside members and staff of the Police Authority.

Independent Custody Visiting Scheme

Derbyshire Police Authority has a statutory duty to establish and maintain an Independent Custody Visiting (ICV) Scheme.

Volunteers chosen from members of the public who visit people held in police custody to check on their welfare.

Their role is to look, listen, observe and report back to the Police Authority on their findings. The Scheme plays an important part in maintaining police accountability to the local community.

Click here for more details about custody visiting in Derbyshire and how to volunteer.

Here is the Equality Impact Assessment for Independent Custody Visitors and Animal Welfare Visitors.
