Derbyshire Police Authority currently runs two volunteer schemes across the county.

The Independent Custody Visiting Scheme is a statutory scheme designed to ensure anyone being held in police custody is being treated within their rights and in satisfactory conditions. As a volunteer, you would carry out audit checks at custody suites to interview and observe those being held.

The Animal Welfare Scheme is a programme of visits to the police kennels where Derbyshire Police dogs are houses and trained. Volunteers check on the animals' welfare, standard of facilities, equipment, training and health.

For more information on either of these schemes, contact Louise Meehan on 01773 733798 or email louise.meehan.9767@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.
