Mr Simon Bate OBE, MBA (Open), BA Hons, FCMI
Appointed as Chief Executive of the Police Authority in August 2007 following a successful 32 year career in the Army.
Simon was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1976 and served in Belgium, Germany and the UK with operational tours of Northern Ireland, Belize, Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia. His last appointment was on the military staff of the European Union in Brussels where his responsibilities included the co-ordination of EU military and police support to the African Union in Darfur, Sudan. He was awarded the OBE in the Iraq 2003 operational honours list.
Simon is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Army Staff College, Camberley and the Open University. His hobbies include military history, supporting England rugby and cricket, walking and philately. Tel: 01773 733776
