Freedom of Information Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires public authorities to be more open with information than we might otherwise have to be.

We believe better decisions are made in an open culture, providing the public with greater understanding of the real constraints regarding decisions, ensuring greater trust and less suspicion by those affected by decisions.

Derbyshire Police Authority's Freedom of Information Scheme was renewed on January 1, 2009.

Gender Equality Scheme

In establishing its Gender Equality Scheme the Authority will ensure a proportionate approach is adopted, ensuring relevance to the Police Authority and its specific functions.

The responsibility for the achievement of key objectives within this Scheme will be devolved to appropriate Police Authority Committees and will become an integral part of those committees' business plans.

Ownership of the Gender Equality Scheme and Action Plan as a whole will remain with the Police Authority, with detailed monitoring and scrutiny provided by the Human Resources, Equal Opportunities, Race and Diversity Committee.

Disability Equality Scheme

The key aim of the Police Authority's Disability Equality Scheme is to increase trust and confidence in policing amongst disabled communities.

The Police Authority is committed to the fulfilment of its duties under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in the performance of all its functions, duties and powers.

Race Equality Scheme

Derbyshire Police Authority is committed to the duties under Race Relations Acts to promote equality of opportunity and good race relations and to eliminate unlawful discrimination. This is its Race Equality Scheme.
