An example e-mail that the Fraud team were alerted to. It is worth noting that this message begins with "Dear Friend" which allows the fraudster to contact many people at a time whilst keeping a personal tone to give possible victims the impression that they were the only recipient. |

This is an example of an inheritance fraud letter. After acknowledging receipt of the correspondence the victim would be pursued for an advance fee in order to release the funds or for administration costs. However the scammers initiate this the promise of a large cash payout would always require an up-front fee. |
Lottery Scam Letter

The lottery scam is another type of advance fee fraud in which an initial payment is required to allegedly fulfil the process of receiving an even prize windfall. In reality, upon paying the fee the scammers would continue to pressure the victim for as much money as they could. |
Chang Inheritance Letter

Another inheritance scam letter, this time originating from China. These scams generally originate overseas making them especially difficult for the police to prevent since the scammers reside outside the jurisdiction of the UK forces. |
