Community Messaging Service
The Community Messaging Service (previously known as Ringmaster) is a system designed to circulate information rapidly, to keep members of the community informed of crimes in their area and current events, as well as appeals for witnesses to crime.
Messages can be circulated rapidly to registered persons or groups by e-mail, voice mail, fax and text message, encouraging members to contact the police with any information. Members who choose to use the voice mail service, can have information provided at specific times or left on an answering machine.
The people registered on the system encompass a whole spectrum of representatives in the community, including residents, Neighbourhood Watch members, Key Individual Networks, farm watch, schools and hospitals and businesses such as shops, pubs, post offices, banks, etc.
Information can be specifically targeted at individual schemes or selected areas by using a mapping process which relies on post codes.
All individuals who register for the scheme are asked to provide an emergency contact number as well as any number they use on a routine basis. This is to enable the Police to communicate in the event of an emergency. For example - floods etc.
The following Community Information Officers are responsible for the operation of the service: - A Division: Tim Parkin
- B Division: Trisha Mellor
- C Division: Ann Jones
- D Division: Carol Hardwick
There are almost 16,000 members of the public and other partner agencies registered on the system.
If you would like more information or would like to register with this service, please contact your Divisional Community Information Officer (as above) on 0345 123 3333.
If you are also interested in supporting your local neighbourhood, read more about becoming a member of our Key Individual Network.
