Interactive Virtual Tours |
The Criminal Justice System Online has developed two interactive virtual tours on its website.
The tours aim to help victims and witnesses alike. |
Tour for victimsThe tour for victims demonstrates the situations a victim may experience; from the time a crime is reported, through the police investigation, prosecution decision-making, court processes, and sentencing. To take part in the tour, go to:
http://www.cjsonline.gov.uk/victim/walkthrough/index.html Tour for witnessesWitnesses play a vital part in society by helping to solve crime and stop injustice taking place. It is not unusual for people to feel anxious about giving evidence in court. You may be uncertain that you can help make sure justice is done, for example. The virtual tour for witnesses helps you understand the process and shows how important your contribution is to making a fair society. To take part in the tour, go to:

Victims' CodeThe Victims' Code sets out the service that victims can expect from the police, courts, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the Witness Service and others.
These commitments will help to ensure that victims are better informed both about their own case and the way in which the criminal justice system works.
The Code also tells victims how to proceed if they are not satisfied with any aspect of the way in which the police or any of the other agencies has dealt with their case. Download the Victims' Code (115.9 kB)
