Road Safety

Police car

This section of the website contains a series of factsheets to help you use the roads of Derbyshire safely. We've drawn upon our own practical experience to provide you with advice and ideas.

We believe the public has a right to be able to use the roads of Derbyshire with confidence, free from death, injury, damage and fear.

Our approach to policing the roads of Derbyshire is directed, rather than arbitrary. This means that we don't target motorists at random. Instead, we direct our efforts to areas where we need to make a difference. We may need to deny the use of roads to criminals, for example, or reduce casualties on particular roads. The number of child casualties continues to rise in Derbyshire, and this is something we are determined to tackle. We've included lots of advice here on protecting children.
