Quick Ways to Help Protect Yourself

E-mail

Ensure that you are protected by a personal firewall and anti-virus software and keep them regularly updated. Report any suspicious messages you receive as abuse to the senders ISP (Internet Service Provider).
 
Never reply to any e-mail you are unsure of.
 
Send all banking related phishing e-mails to reports@banksafeonline.org.uk, Paypal e-mails to spoof@paypal.co.uk and Ebay e-mails to spoof@ebay.co.uk.

Telephone

Report any suspicious phone calls to your phone company and consider registering your number with Telephone Preference Service. Click here to find them online or call 0845 070 0707.
 
Never give personal details over the phone.


Post

Beware of unwanted mail from outside this country or from a Post-box address in this country. Lottery and cashback fraudsters are increasingly using these.

These matters can also be reported to your local Trading Standards Office.
