Community Involvement Scheme

Community Involvement Scheme

Derbyshire Constabulary are always looking to improve the relationship between the police and members of the public and partner agencies from within the community. One way to achieve this is to invite members of the public and our partner agencies to accompany operational officers on a tour of duty giving you the chance to see the challenges faced by the police.

Spend a day with an officer and find out what it is like to work on the beat in Derbyshire! You will discover more about the challenges facing the police on a daily basis.

Who Can Join The Scheme?

You must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the scheme.
Derbyshire Constabulary will need proof of your age.

Police checks will be carried out on anyone wishing to join the scheme.

If you have a criminal record, or caution for a criminal offence, you may not be permitted to take part in the scheme.

If you have taken part in the scheme in a particular division on one occasion then you will not be eligible to reapply.

On The Day

The Duty Inspector will explain the day in more detail when you arrive.

Participants will be issued with a distinctive tabard which will be worn at all times.

You'll be given a tour of the police station where you'll get the chance to meet the officers you will be spending the day with.

At the end of your tour we will ask you to fill out an evaluation and comments form.

Application

From Monday 18 January 2010, this scheme has been put on hold due to the many changes being made within the Derbyshire Constabulary.

There is only one division that is able to offer the service, as such you will need to live or work in the Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire or Bolsover sections.

If you would like to be considered for the scheme, please e-mail Ann Jones, Community Information Officer on ann.jones.4073@derbyshire.police.pnn.uk.
