Our People

Derbyshire Constabulary receives around 3,400 calls a day and deals with approximately 80,000 crimes a year.

There are roughly 2,065 regular officers working for our police force, supported by 475 Special Constables, 104 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and 1370 police staff.

Our police officers perform a wide range of duties. These include responding to emergency calls, providing a reassuring presence in the community, helping protect the public from violence, supporting victims of crime, as well as those who have witnessed crime, and investigating complex crimes. Our officers receive support from specialist departments such as the dog section, the scientific support department and the North Midlands helicopter unit.

Our police staff provide support for frontline policing operations and other areas of our business. Our analysts, for example, collate and study information to help detect and reduce crime. We employ call handling staff to provide a professional response to calls from the public and front-counter personnel who deal with the public at our police enquiry offices. We also employ specialists like any other business to manage our corporate services. These include human resources, I.T, and finance.

By recognising and valuing individual differences we can develop our understanding and increase confidence among all groups, both within our police force and in the community.

We aim to make Derbyshire Constabulary an organisation that reflects the diversity of the communities and cultures it serves. We want to ensure diversity is welcomed and embraced in our organisational structures, decision-making processes, our ways of working, communicating and managing.

Derbyshire Constabulary is fortunate to have a wide range of internal support networks for police officers and staff, which includes the following:

Derbyshire Constabulary is led by a team of chief officers headed by Chief Constable Mick Creedon. Their role is to provide strategic leadership for the Force. You can read more about our chief officers on this website.
