Internet

The internet is good for learning new things. It's interesting and great fun as well! But you also need to be careful when you go on the internet. On this page we explain how you can stay safe.

Never give out any of your personal details over the internet

Personal details include your:

PC Bloggs
  • name

  • address

  • school

  • home telephone number

  • mobile number

  • e-mail address.

Be careful in chat rooms!

In chat rooms be careful about who you talk to. The person you talk to might seem like a good friend, but he or she may be pretending.

Always use a nickname when you visit a chat room.

Be careful about meeting friends you've met online!

Be careful about meeting up with someone you make friends with online. If you decide to meet them, make sure it is in a public place and never go alone. Go with your parent or the grown up looking after you.

If something you come across online makes you feel uncomfortable, it is important you tell your parent, the grown up looking after you or another adult you can trust.

Do not reply to any messages that make you feel uncomfortable.
