The officeWe call the seating space on board the helicopter our 'office'. In this picture, you can see what the inside of the helicopter looks like from the back seat. |

Video/thermal image cameraThis camera can record in full colour during the day. At night, it records by thermal imaging - which means it records images by picking up the different sources of heat.
The camera is great when we want to search for missing or wanted people. The camera has a very powerful zoom allowing us to read a car number plate from 250 metres away. |
Downlink transmitterThis piece of equipment allows signals from the camera to be sent to a building on the ground called the 'base station'. People at the base station can then read the signals and keep up-to-date with what is happening in the air. |

The bootThe helicopter is now capable of carrying extra equipment on board by opening the clam shell doors at the back. This is where patients on the stretcher are placed - so the helicopter can fly them to hospital. |
More equipmentOn the left side of this picture, you can see the defibrillator. This helps people who have suffered from a heart attack.
In the centre, you can see the medical bag. The police use this to give first aid.
On the right is the stretcher. |

On the way to hospitalThis picture shows a person being put onto the stretcher ready to be airlifted to hospital. |
Search lightThis huge spotlight has the same brightness as 30 million candles. It is connected to a motor and can search from left to right or up and down.
The beam of light is powerful enough to cover a large area similar to the size of a football pitch. It can also be focused on a single person. |
