We are investigating reports a woman was sexually assaulted in Derby City Centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is thought to have taken place on Irongate, near to Ashley Adams Estate Agents sometime between 2am and 2.30am on Sunday 15 August.
We would like to speak to anyone in the area at the time who may have noticed the assault, or anything suspicious.
Detective Inspector Brian Bilby said: “We understand that reports of this nature are concerning, and I would like to reassure the public that we are thoroughly investigating the incident, and as part of our enquiries we would like to hear from anyone who was in the Irongate area around that time.
“At this time we believe the incident to be isolated, as we have not received any similar reports of this nature in the area.”

If you’re not ready to talk to the police just yet, that’s OK. There are a number of organisations where you can get support and speak to in confidence.
Independent sexual violence advisors (ISVAs) work with adults and children who have experienced sexual violence and their families to get them access to the services they need. You can talk to an ISVA without talking to the police: Find your local sexual assault referral centre.
