The purse was stolen from an elderly woman who was shopping in the Asda store, in Sheffield Road at around 4.20pm on Saturday (13 February). Once the victim reached the till she realised the purse was missing and it was later found discarded in Nelson Street, by a member of the public.
A quantity of cash had been stolen.
